Commonly known as Colenso’s tussock or blue tussock, is a compact, evergreen perennial grass native to New Zealand, naturally occurring in alpine and subalpine grasslands. It forms dense, rounded tussocks of fine, narrow, blue green to grey-green leaves, creating a soft, flowing appearance throughout the year. In summer, it produces delicate, airy flower panicles that emerge greenish before maturing to pale brown. It is commonly used in native gardens, alpine rock gardens, mass plantings, borders and naturalistic landscapes, valued for its fine texture, compact form and low maintenance requirements.
