Phormium tenax (or Harakeke) is the common native New Zealand flax, and P. purpurea is a purple and generally smaller natural form of that. Very easy plant to grow, and suitable for use in a wide range of applications from farms, riparian plantings, subdivisions, to larger landscaping plans. Fantastic food source for native birds. Tolerant of dry, cold and exposure. Grows to approx. 2m tall x 2m wide when mature.
