Phormium tenax (or Harakeke) is the common native New Zealand flax, forming robust clumps of broad, green leaves. Larger than P. cookianum. Very easy plant to grow, and suitable for use in a wide range of applications from farms, riparian plantings, subdivisions, to larger landscaping plans. Fantastic food source for native birds. Tolerant of dry, cold and exposure. Grows to approx. 3m tall x 2m wide when mature.
