Olearia arborescens, commonly known as the common tree daisy or pekapeka in Māori, is a shrub or small tree endemic to New Zealand. It typically grows up to 4 meters in height and features dark green, glossy leaves measuring between 4–8 cm in length, with a light greyish underside. The leaves are arranged alternately and have smooth margins. From October to January, it produces clusters of white florets with small, fluffy yellow centers, which develop into wind-dispersed seeds. Olearia arborescens thrives in lowland to alpine scrubland environments, often found in mountainous regions like the Southern Alps and central Otago. This species is commonly used in native reforestation projects and as an ornamental plant in gardens due to its attractive foliage and flowers.
