Nandina domestica, commonly known as heavenly bamboo, is an evergreen to semi-evergreen with fine, bamboo-like foliage and seasonal colour changes. It forms an upright, clumping habit with slender stems and delicate, pinnate leaves that emerge reddish, turn green in summer, and often develop red or bronze tones in autumn and winter. In summer, it produces airy panicles of small white flowers, followed by bright red berries that persist in winter. It is commonly used in borders, mass plantings, and as a feature shrub in both formal and informal gardens.
