Liquidambar styraciflua, commonly known as Sweetgum, is a large, deciduous tree valued for its striking autumn foliage also forming a pyramidal to rounded canopy as it matures. The tree features deeply lobed, star-shaped green leaves that turn brilliant shades of red, orange, yellow, and purple in autumn.  It is commonly used in parks, large gardens, and street plantings for its bold seasonal color, shade-providing canopy, and ornamental appeal.
