Ligularia reniformis, commonly known as Tractor Seat plant, is a striking perennial herbaceous plant native to moist forests and stream banks of East Asia. This robust plant is characterized by its large, glossy, kidney-shaped leaves that can reach up to 30cm in diameter. In mid to late summer, tall stems emerge bearing clusters of bright yellow daisy-like flowers atop dark stems, providing a stunning contrast against the foliage. Preferring moist, well-drained soil, Ligularia reniformis thrives in partial to full shade but can tolerate some sun if provided with ample moisture. While deciduous in colder climates, it may remain evergreen in milder regions. With a mature size of 0.6m high and 1m wide, it is often used in residential gardens on the shady side of the house, woodland gardens, boggy areas, or near water features to add bold texture and color.
