Dodonaea viscosa Purpurea is an NZ native also known as Purple Ake Ake. It is a fast-growing small tree, which can be left to grow or responds well to trimming for a formal hedge. Has papery flower clusters in summer. It is tolerant of coastal wind and dryness, but should be sheltered from frost when young. Evergreen. Grows to approx. 7m tall by 2.5m wide when mature.
