Delphinium ‘Dark Blue’, commonly known as larkspur, is a herbaceous perennial cultivated for its tall, upright flower spikes and vivid colouring. It forms a clump of deeply divided, mid-green foliage, from which emerge strong stems bearing dense racemes of rich dark blue flowers, often with contrasting white or black centres, in late spring to early summer. The plant is deciduous, dying back over winter, and is frost hardy in temperate climates. It is widely used in cottage gardens, perennial borders, and formal plantings, where it provides strong vertical interest and is also valued as a cut flower.
