Carpodetus serratus is an NZ native, and also know as Marbleleaf or Putaputaweta. It has striking �marbled� leaves, with plentiful tiny white flowers during summer. These are followed by purple fruit, which ripen to black from March-May. Makes an attractive specimen or shade tree, growing to 5-7m tall when mature. Intolerant of drought and wind, and prefers a moist soil. Frost tender when young. Evergreen.
