Alectryon Excelsus, aka Titoki, NZ Oak, or NZ Ash. A widely used NZ native, with attractive glossy green leaves and a spreading canopy. Unusual jet-black seeds and bright-red fruit attract birds from October to February. Mature leaves are a clean and crisp mid-green whilst new growth is a paler green with rusty tones. It is a relatively small tree, and responds well to trimming. Best in a semi sheltered position in full sun, and will only withstand light frosts. Grows to approx. 6m tall x 4m wide when mature.
