How do you know how many deciduous plants to plant, versus evergreen? Keep this handy ratio in mind - for a formal planting scheme, aim for about two thirds evergreeen and one third deciduous. This will help keep the structure and colour of your landscape right through winter.
For a more informal scene, reverse the ratio - go with about two thirds deciduous, to one third evergreen.
